The Challenge
The advertising budgets at Windward Community College were being reduced due to the tough economic times. Enrollment goals, however, did not decline. How to grow enrollment and fill out classes with a much smaller marketing budget? Like many other businesses, it was necessary for WCC to do more with less.
The Resource
Bonnie says it best, “Thanks, everyone loved the radio spots. We got calls the very first day from potential students who wanted to find out how to be entrepreneurs! Crazy! I want to thank you for all that you do for Windward.”
The Idea
The KPHW team put together commercials that used the power of emotion to speak to potential college students or those uncertain about their future. Relating the degrees that students could obtain to the actual placement and earning potential the degree would lead to proved to be a powerful draw. Drawing on the real successes of actual students built a lot of credibility with listeners.
The Results
The powerful commercials started working immediately. Bonnie continues… “The first day, within the first hour, we had a potential student call and ask how he could enroll in the Vet Assist program. That's terrific response!”
