Everyone who participated in this event was a winner – the ladies in the audience, our wonderful firefighters and lifeguards, the sponsors, the night club and especially Susan G. Komen for the Cure. Thanks Krater 96!

Sheila Callum, Executive Director
Susan G. Komen Foundation

The Challenge
To help raise funds for the Susan G. Komen for the Cure Hawaii affiliate so that they could continue their important work in breast cancer research. Krater96 wanted to raise even more money than they had in 2008 with their “Burning Down the House” event.
The Resource
The Krater96 staff worked tirelessly to create an event that was a win for all parties concerned. Sheila says it best: “The Krater96 Staff is both professional and fun to work with. We couldn’t ask for better partners.”
The Idea
Create an annual event to raise money for Krater96’s designated charity in a fun, atmosphere – a male date auction showcasing Honolulu’s hunky firefighters and lifeguards at a hot night spot. Having the firefighters and lifeguards vie to raise the most money added a great element of competition and fun.
The Results
One sponsor said, “This is a GREAT event – it’s just what I needed to get my new products showcased in front of my target customer. Sign me up for next year!” The night club saw in additional 8K in bar business – and best of all, in a recession, Susan G. Komen raised much-needed funds!
